Simple and Easy Microwave Repair Tips

A microwave oven is a common household appliance. Sometimes it simply refuses to work and will leave us confused and wondering what went wrong. Here are some common problems that can occur with the oven and a few microwave repair tips to resolve them.

Sometimes your microwave will not switch on. The first thing to check is the plug. Ensure that it is plugged in properly and the door is correctly closed and aligned. If there is a blown fuse you can replace that or reset a tripped circuit breaker. Turn the switch on. If it does not work then there might be other issues or you may have to contact a professional.

If the microwave keeps blowing fuses or tripping a breaker check its door switch. Find the door switches and take off the leads. Probe the terminus using a volt ohm meter. When the door is open the reading has to be infinity and when closed it should be zero. If these readings are not correct, replace the switch and check again.

Sometimes the diode or the capacitor may be bad. Test the capacitor using the voltmeter. The reading should gradually increase to infinity. Test again by reversing the probes. The reading should be the same. If it is not, it is damaged. Similarly, test the diode as well. The two readings have to be opposite. If they are not you need to replace them. But if you are not able to identify the problem, you need to call a professional.

The carousel may not turn sometimes. It is driven by a small motor and is not related to the heating function. You have to check the plastic drive coupling on which the tray is found and also the ring and roll assembly. You have to open the microwave cabinet to fix it.

If you feel that the microwave cooks unevenly or relatively slowly, examine the voltage at the power supply. If it's less than 115 the trouble is with the electrical service. A bad motor can also cause the problem. To check this, remove the grill at the bottom and check using the voltmeter after setting it to RX1 and removing a lead from the terminals of the motor. You will have to replace the motor if the reading is infinity. Even the wave guide and the magnetron can cause problems.

The touchpad may work erratically or not work at all. If by any chance your touch pad has become wet, let it dry properly. Do not spray any cleaning liquid near it. If you have insects in your kitchen, check for infestation by insects. They are most likely to appear under clear surfaces and in between the circuit boards to feel the warmth. Cover the vents by placing a window mesh to keep away insects.

If you still are unable to fix your microwave or find some other persisting problems you should contact a microwave repair professional for assistance.

5 Tips on How to Lose Weight and Look Your Best EASILY!

5 Tips to help you lose weight and look your best EASILY!

We all want to look and feel our best, but quite often its knowing where to start. So, to welcome us all to 2010 and a new decade I thought I'd compile a short report on 5 EASY tips to help kick start us all and get us back on track for a healthy vibrant year.

1. SUPERFOODS

Don't be put off, I'm thinking about our common everyday foods that are in fact serious weapons in our fat busting armory. Things like -

Water

Green Tea

Apples and pears

Oatmeal

Broccoli

Low-Fat Yogurt

Grapefruit

Hot Peppers

Lean Beef, Pork, Chicken, and Turkey (lean protein - tofu will also count)

Salmon, Tuna, and Sardines (omega 3 which you can also get from flax seeds)

Home made Soup

All these foods (and I do include water as a food) help boost our metabolism so our body burns more energy. These are furnace stokers so to speak. Some can be eaten throughout the day when we feel in need of a snack as they also help fill us, yet are low in calories. Some of them have the incredible ability to help clear us of toxins, such as the water and apples. I have gone through these foods and others in other reports - just sign up for the free e-letter each week to ensure you receive them.

Oh, and the occasional red wine or real ale won't hurt - just don't go over board and they are high in empty calories and, obviously, contain alcohol which does stimulate the appetite as well as taxing the liver.

2. EXERCISE

Okay, I know, not everyone gets off on getting hot and sweaty after jogging around the block a couple of times. But exercise doesn't have to be boring or 'hard work'. It can be as fun as dancing round the lounge to your favorite group or learning a bit of martial arts - and before you start quaking at visions of ninja warriors, Tai Chi is also a martial art.

Exercise boosts the metabolic rate, improves circulation, increases bone density, tones and strengthens the muscles, burns calories among many, many, other things. Just 20 mins a day can make the world of difference.

Here are some ideas to get you looking at how exercise can fit into your life

Swimming - lengths of a pool, aqua aerobics....

Dancing - ballroom, disco, salsa, belly, front room...

Running, Jogging, brisk walking

Vigorous Housework - hovering, dusting, ironing

Working in the garden, digging, weeding

Walking the dog, walking to work, walking up the stairs, running away from the dog...(or the children...)

Joining a class - Tai chi, yoga, Pilates

Joining a gym, using light weights

Making love

Anything that causes us to move is a form of exercise, so if you have little time incorporate walking into your day, stop off after work for a class once a week. Exercise also invigorates and strengthens you, so after a very short while you should see the benefits. If you are a solitary type take up walking, jogging or front room/ bedroom dancing.

Ideally 20 mins a day and a couple of 1 hour periods a week will help keep you in tip top condition.

3. SPRING CLEAN

Not many people mention this, but your home does makes a big difference when you are trying to lose a bit of weight. When things are disorganised around us we tend to become less focused and more disorganized ourselves. A good spring clean and clear up not only boosts the calories burnt but it also helps make space for us to clean ourselves up internally. It makes us more comfortable - when there is a level of chaos around us it is far harder to concentrate on ourselves and our needs and far easier to slip back to old habits. Also, by taking charge of our surroundings, it is usually far easier to take charge of ourselves.

4. SLEEP

Getting enough sleep is essential. When you start changing your eating habits and exercising, your body needs to rest more to rebuild itself and rejuvenate. A positive change in diet will cause the body to initially start clearing out rubbish, so coughs, colds, feeling cold and feeling a little more tired than usual is to be expected. Try not to turn to pharmaceuticals to suppress the symptoms of a bit of a cold as this will just stuff the junk back down again. Try something more like honey, lemon and hot water to soothe any cold like symptoms. And rest. It helps the body clear out this junk and rebuild itself into a stronger fresher model. Normally, as you progress and your body becomes lighter and clearer you will start needing less sleep.

5. EAT MORE!

Yes, you read this right, eat more! By that I mean frequent highly nutritious meals and snacks. Do not skip meals. You will not lose weight by starving yourself, in fact, the exact opposite will occur as the body will start storing. A bowl of fruit and cereal (oats/muesli etc) with low fat yogurt in the morning, a large portion of veg/salad, (without the mayo...!) lean protein like lean meat, fish, tofu and a jacket spud (without the cheese and butter!), a plate of wholegrain rice with vegetables and lean protein, and snacks from our super foods list with a couple of liters of water a day will have you losing weight in no time. If you can't stand plain water (bottled or filtered is best - NOT tap) try squeezing a little citrus juice into it, lemon or orange. In fact a glass of warm water with the juice of half a lemon in it drank first thing in the morning is very cleansing and would start the day off perfectly. Or even better a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm water, cut with a teaspoon of honey.

Some people find it tough during the day - take your lunch and snacks with you. Make up a rice salad, a thermos of homemade soup or a meal you can pop in the microwave -microwaving food is not ideal as it does deplete the food of nutrients, but is still a lot better than snacking on sandwiches and crisps...

If you love veg take some veg like carrot, celery, tomatoes, and cucumbers and make a dip out of low fat yogurt and chives or cottage cheese.

Experiment and have fun with your food, but steer clear of the high fat/high sugar, processed stuff.
